AFL

Unfortunately, the AFL season of 2020 was cut short, with our teams only being able to play two games before the COVID-19 pandemic occurred.  However, we had a large number of girls sign up -two Junior teams and one Senior team.  As your AFL Captain in 2020. I hope that there is a large number of students signing up for the 2021 season.

In 2021, with the new change to the CASSSA competition, the Junior and Senior AFL teams will play at different times during the year.  The Senior and Intermediate teams, consisting of Years 10 to12 students, will play during Term 1, starting on the 10 February and ending 31 March.  The Junior teams, consisting of Years 7 to 9 students, however, will play at the end of the year in Term 4, starting 6 October and ending 24 November.  Trials for the Senior teams will be held on 10 November at Gibson Park.  Students will be bused to and from the College on this day and are to be picked up from the College.  Due to the current COVID-19 situation, there are to be no students picked up from Gibson Park.  The Junior teams' trials will be held in Term 3, 2021, with the dates still to be confirmed.

AFL is a great opportunity for girls to try something new in a social and inclusive environment.  It gives girls the chance to try a contact sport while under safe and fun conditions.  I hope, in 2021, many girls give AFL a go, and hopefully bring home a pennant.  Good luck to all the girls competing next year; I wish them the best of luck.
