Dear Parents/Carers

One small outcome of the Covid crisis this year has seen our newsletter switch completely to an online communication. We hope families will enjoy this new format which is still very much in the developmental stage, however it obviously gives us a great deal more capacity to include photographs and videos from school events as well as links to important forms and websites which we hope will be beneficial for parents and carers and our school’s administration. Watch this space!

Week two and Colac and surrounds continue to do a good job of keeping the Covid virus away but a few reminders to ensure we look after each other. Parents are not permitted to come on to the school grounds unless it is an emergency. Please ring the office if you need to drop off supplies etc. This is about minimising the risk to all students and staff.

Also Parents should not be congregating at the school gates at the end of the day. This is unfortunate, I know, but it is a necessary precaution for us all to be aware of.

WELCOME BACK This week we welcomed back one of our Prep teachers, Megan Doyle, our Business Manager, Emmalie Cain and one of our Learning Support trainees, Emily Montano who are all recovering from significant surgeries.

We wish all of these people all the very best as they continue their recoveries and pray for all in our community who are sick or injured. Our school is certainly a better place with everybody back in it.

SCHOOL FEES AND ACCOUNTS The accounts of all families have been updated to reflect the fact that we have not been able to take the kids on camps and excursions this year. There has been no swimming program and no Hot Dog days either.  Should your account be in credit, we are happy to return this payment to you or you can leave as prepaid fees for the next year. Where your youngest child is graduating to secondary school, you will be repaid this amount via cheque.

Families will note that we have retained $20 per child which we intend to use for excursions this term. Almost above all else we want our students to have some fun this term.

Parents who have someone in Grade 6 will be aware that our Grade 6 team is planning a fourth Term camp to The Grampians for our Grade 6 students. Their accounts will reflect this. Let’s hope for the kids’ sake that we get to do this! I am very grateful to our Gr 6 teachers for acting so promptly to organise what is shaping up to be a fantastic camp for these children.

SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHS We have made a booking with our usual school photographers, Artur Reed to come to school on October 30th to take the traditional school photographs, however, right at the moment it is forbidden for photographers to enter a school.

We are going to keep the booking for as long as we can and hopefully in the next week or two this rule might be relaxed.
