Assessment Week

The F1 Team would really like to thank our students for their participation in this first week of remote assessments. We are aware of the big challenge it may mean for some of them to do this kind of activity online and the stress it may cause. These circumstances are not ideal for anyone, which is why we really appreciate your efforts.

On Monday, our students did a Cold Write explaining the life cycle of a butterfly, which they had previously watched in a video and a picture. From Wednesday to Friday, students have been working with their other language teacher on their Spanish or English assessments consisting of letter/sound recognition, blending and segmenting, and counting exercises. Each morning, students have been doing whole-class Check-ins with a specialist teacher, which will also happen in the second assessment week. Next week, students will be doing the Spanish or English assessment that they are missing with their home teacher. They will also be assessed on some mathematical concepts.

The results of all these activities are fundamental for teachers to know our students’ progress in the different subjects and therefore to plan prospective activities according to our students’ needs. Teachers have been very careful to choose skills that are possible to be assessed remotely. Students will be assessed on the remaining skills when we are back in the classroom. Please, rest assured that we will also reassess students on those skills whose online performance has been affected by not having the same structure and routine of the classroom.

Current Learning Goals

This week in our mathematics learning experiences on Seesaw, we have been learning the value of numbers and the location of objects in our English and Spanish activities, respectively. We would also like to highlight the great efforts that our students made in Writing last week.

Students have also shown creativity playing 20 questions with their relatives,  creating and naming their own yoga poses,  drawing a playground with 2D shapes, and creating their own puzzle.

Some have even shown their engagement by doing extra activities from our grid!

Excellent work, F1s. Thanks for your engagement in another great week of remote learning.

SRC update

The SRC has been working to organise an end of term celebration in the form of a Seesaw activity. They have come up with a range of fun activities for students to work through at their own choice. They can complete as many of the tasks as they would like. Some of the activities may require basic materials. The activity will be sent out in the last week of school, Monday 14th September. It will be available for the whole week for students to work through if and when they would like. Click "add response" to upload photos or videos of any of the tasks you choose to complete and remember it is all about having fun!
