House Swimming Carnival

On Monday 28 February, Kilbreda had their annual House Swimming Carnival with the best turn out we have had in years. Being held at the Oakleigh Recreation Centre was perfect!

The day included lots of enthusiasm from all year levels and some awesome costumes. We had the 50m freestyle to start the day and it was great to see some of the biggest participation numbers we have ever seen. A big shout out to the Year 7 and 8 students as it was amazing to see so many line up for each race to earn House points!

The Year 12 students came with high spirits for their last Swimming Carnival and took every opportunity for one 'last race'. After a close start to the day, Brigid maintained a small lead to Delany by a matter of points, before claiming a well-earned victory. It was the first time Brigid had won a swimming carnival since 2013! Both Brigid Leaders were very proud of the effort from everyone and the spirit in which everyone raced in all day.

We cannot wait for the Athletics carnival in three weeks, Go BRIGID!

1st place - Brigid on 1294 points

2nd place - Delany on 1087 points

3rd place - Kildare on 991 points

4th place - Tullow on 598 points

Fastest 50

During the House Swimming Carnival the fastest 50m swimmers are chosen from each year level to race in the 'Fastest 50m' event.

The following students were chosen - Celine Incani (Year 7), Lucia Robb (Year 8), Indi Hanlon (Year 9), Mia Hayden (Year 10), Michaela Meyer  (Year 11) and Chloe Joughin (Year 12). It was a very exciting event and a very close finish with Mia Hayden winning the race, closely followed by Chloe Joughin. Congratulations Mia!

House Spirit Awards

The House Spirit Awards were awarded to students who involved themselves fully in the House Swimming Carnival. Nominated by their peers and staff, the selected students were great role models for those in their House and year level for their willingness to participate in numerous events on the day, dress up and encourage those around them.

Year 7 and 8 Lunchtime House Sport

Every second Friday for the past six weeks, the House Leaders have been leading lunchtime sport on the Tennis Courts for the Year 7 and 8 students to encourage participation and to get to know people in their Houses.

We have had an outstanding turn out each week with over 70 girls from both year levels coming down to play some games and win some house points. We would like to congratulate everyone who continues to show up and bring amazing energy with them to get into the House spirit.

We are going to continue to run the House activities each Day 10 at lunchtime as they are proving to be very rewarding for all.

SCSA Sport

SCSA Swimming and Diving Squad

The students have been participating in the early morning swimming and diving training sessions now over the last few weeks. We had a great turn out last Friday with 31 girls in the water preparing for the SCSA Swimming Carnival at MSAC on Thursday 24 March. The carnival will begin at 5.00pm and we have received confirmation, that this year, parents will once again be able to attend.

If your daughter makes the Kilbreda Swimming Team she will need to ensure she has either a pair of plain one-piece black bathers or she can purchase a pair of Kilbreda bathers from Bob Stewart in Balcombe Road, Mentone.

Specific information will be sent out soon to all students who have been chosen to represent Kilbreda in the SCSA event.
