School Council President

Festival, Festival, Festival...Oi, Oi, Oi

What a day it was! The weather was perfect, the crowds were large and the stall was an amazing success.

Thank you so much to all the volunteers who helped out on Friday and Saturday - we literally couldn't have done it without you. And thank-you to all our customers - many of whom said they loved our kebabs so much they had to come back for a second one!

We're still tallying up the final expenses, but it looks like we made around $4,000 for the school which will go towards our children's playgrounds.

We sold delicious chicken and lamb kebabs, lemonade and raspberry ice-poles, and sparkling and fresh fruit juice. Our stall was flat-out from around 11:30am onwards and at times we had five people serving, cooking and making up the kebabs.

We sold our last icy-pole just as we closed at 5pm and could not have been happier with how the day went. It was a great fundraising success and just as importantly, a great community success.

2022 School Council meeting

The 2022 School Council held its first meeting on Tuesday evening, and it was our first-ever hybrid meeting with several of our councillors joining via Zoom (one even from Darwin) while the rest of us met in person.

Our office bearers for 2022 are:

  • President - Jimmy Harris
  • Vice-President - Mark Hawthorne
  • Treasurer - Nick Austin
  • Minute Secretary - Lucy Rogers

We have four new councillors this year, with a range of skills, experience and perspective and I'm looking forward to a busy and productive year for the council. We've got some new ideas for the year already, including an upcoming hot cross bun day and a colour fun run later in the year where we hope to involve our local sporting and community groups.

In next week's news

Apostrophe, or no apostrophe (in our school's name), that is the question...and it will be answered along with a brief history of the school's early years.
