Hollows House Updates

We have now reached the halfway point of the term, with us having achieved so much already and a numerous amount of opportunities to thrive in the next half. Coming up on Friday the 18th of March is our first whole school house event- the HPSC swimming sports. I am super excited to see our house pride showing on this day, by us all wearing blue and cheering each other on throughout every event. There will be prizes and values nominations given out on the day, as we continue to show house spirit and the school values; respect, learning and working together.

Meet the Student House Leaders:

Each house, has 2 School Leaders that work with staff and students to promote House Spirit across the College. In Hollows, we have the great pleasure of working with Michelle Balog and Zinab Mahajer

Values Nominations

It was a huge start to the term for values nominations and the nominations keep rolling in. Congratulations to all the students who have received a values nomination over the last month. As a school we pride ourselves on these Values and really want to reward everyone for their efforts. Over the last month Hollows students have received the following nominations.

  • Respect; 41 student nominations (45 for the year)
  • Learning; 480 student nominations (648 for the year)
  • Working Together; 259 nominations (344 for the year)
  • Leadership; 15 nominations (145 for the year)
  • Community; 10 nominations (12 for the year)

That is a total of  1,194 nominations for the year and points for the house.

A special mention to the following Hollows students as they have the most nominations for their respective categories;

  • Jhyroe TANGONAN, , with 14 Learning nominations.
  • Fatemah GHULAM ZADEH, with 7 Working Together nominations.

Attendance

As mentioned in our last Newshamper release, attendance is one of the single most important factors in enabling students to achieve their potential in school. Attendance makes a big difference in learning outcomes. A student who attends everyday has more opportunities to learn and is able access to their teachers and support staff more often. Every day counts.

If a day of absence is required, please call the student absence line before the start of the school day or log the absence on Compass. This supports the Hollows Team in identifying where your child is and supports them with working with you as a team to ensure that your child succeeds in their learning goals. Letter’s are also being sent home with students in their mentoring session, if they have had any unexplained absences or lates. This process supports the College in tracking attendance but also so that caregivers are aware of all unexplained absences. We request that caregivers sign these forms and return to the College so that we can record these absences with supporting reasons.

Well done to the 22 Hollows House students who have achieved 100% attendance so far this year and well done to the students who have been working hard to improve their attendance at school.
