Library Technician

Hello everyone. We have passed the halfway mark of term 1 and the students and grades have settled into a lovely routine with their library sessions. It took a bit of getting used to, the new system of having their Just Right books scanned under the students' names this year. But everyone is now used to using their named Bookmarks. If any Parents or Caregivers has any questions about your child's borrowing, please feel free to contact me anytime via Compass.

Good news! Commencing next week, the library will be open at lunchtime for students in years 3 to 6 from Monday to Thursday. There are Chess Sets and a few games such as Uno, Connect Four, and Scrabble. There are colouring in pages for those students needing a bit of Mindfulness. Of course, they can also read books too.

Students are welcome to bring in any quiet games from home to play with their friends. I look forward to welcoming students to the library during lunchtimes.

A reminder that the library is open every morning, except Fridays from 8.45am to 9.00am for anyone who wants to return or borrow a book.

As you have heard from Mr Cox's update, Kingswood Primary School is looking at getting a school dog for the students. One of the options is through an organisation called Story Dogs. In this Newsletter you will find a poster asking for volunteers who have a dog that may be suitable as a school dog. This would involve bringing in the dog for a couple of hours a week, for children to read to the dog on a one on one basis.

Training is carried out by Story Dogs and Kingswood Primary will cover all costs involved. So if you know anyone with a well mannered dog and can devote a couple of hours a week, please have them contact either the school, or Story Dogs for any further information. The contact person at Story Dogs is Janine and all details are on the poster.

LIBRARY HELP WANTED

The school library is a busy place that is visited by every grade once a week, and I am now requesting some assistance with scanning and resolving books in the mornings. It would be from 9am for just an hour or so. If you would like to help in the library, please send me an email via Compass. You don't need to have any special skills, just knowing your alphabet for shelving books. The library is a beautiful space to be in and I am sure you would enjoy any time you could offer to volunteer. The only necessity is to have completed the Classroom Helper training.
