Resilience, Rights, and Respectful Relationships
Victoria’s Respectful Relationships initiative supports school leaders, educators, and our school communities to promote and model respect and equality – and to teach our children how to build healthy relationships, resilience, and confidence.
The Royal Commission on Family Violence identified the critical role that schools have in creating a culture of respect to change the story of family violence for future generations.
Kingswood Primary School, in line with all Victorian Government Schools, is committed to the implementation of the resilience, rights, and respectful relationships initiative.
We have formed a Respectful Relationships team who have conducted an audit of these 6 areas to form a baseline understanding of where we are at as a school:
1. Leadership and Commitment
2. School Culture and Environment
3. Professional Learning
4. Teaching and Learning
5. Engagement with your School Community
6. Support for Staff and Students
This then forms the basis of our 2022 Action Plan.
Coming Up –
National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence – Friday 18th March
Kingswood is taking part in the 2022 National Day of Action against bullying and violence. The theme is Kindness Culture – it starts with you. Teachers will be completing activities in the classroom to promote the messages and themes behind this day of action. I encourage you to talk to your children about the importance of kindness, how they could be kind to others in the classroom and playground etc. Our SRC students will be on the lookout for acts of kindness during the week in the classroom and playground and will be awarding students smiley faces for demonstrating kindness.
We look forward to sharing our Kingswood Kindness Wall with you in the near future.
Harmony Day Monday 21st March - Cultural Dress Up Day
To celebrate our cultural diversity and inclusiveness at Kingswood we would love to see all students come dressed in either cultural dress, the colours of their identified nationality's flag or the colour of Harmony Day which is orange on this Monday. Please remember not to apply face paint as it cracks and peels and is uncomfortable and if your child has specialist classes they still need to be able to complete classes in their chosen clothes. The message behind Harmony Day is "Everyone Belongs". Our Wellbeing team has compiled resources to share with classroom teachers to be used in the lead up and following this day.
