Senior School News

The Senior School team, together with your support, give direction and encouragement to all students in the Senior School.  Our students are very important to us and their well-being and success is of paramount importance.  We offer our students a range of information sessions which are beneficial and will assist them throughout the year.

  • Study and exam techniques
  • Motivation
  • Course and careers advice

However, one of the most important learning opportunities is obviously in the classroom, working productively during class with their teachers.

Pathways Of Our Class Of 2021 - UPDATE

94% of students who applied via VTAC for tertiary courses have received an offer.  Of these offers, 84% received an offer for one of their top three course preferences.  This is an amazing statistic given that entry to tertiary study remains very competitive.  15% of students received more than one offer.  This is significant because there are very few second and subsequent round offers made to students.

Our students have attracted significant attention from quite a number of tertiary institutions.  One high achieving student received five offers (one in every round).  This rarely happens.  Congratulations to that student!

Homework And Study Groups

Year 11 and 12 students should be undertaking approximately 14–22 hours per week of study.  At no stage should students say they have no work.  Revision is a vital part of their learning.

Study Sessions

For students who wish to continue studying in a school environment, we are offering the Presentation Space where students will be supported and encouraged to continue with their studies after school hours.  We are establishing study groups after school and would welcome any recommendations on alumni who would be interested in tutoring students or any parents who are interested in running sessions after school.

Use Of Study Periods

It is pleasing to see so many of our students using their time to an advantage in study periods. However, some students need to manage their time more effectively. Our past students have spoken of the importance of utilising study periods to discuss work with friends, meet with teachers, complete homework and revise for assessment tasks.  All students are required to be in a designated study area during their study periods and to use this time productively.

Senior School Parent Information Evening

Due to government health regulations, we have not had the opportunity to run an onsite Senior School Parent Information evening.  In place of this, we have posted on Compass a PowerPoint presentation which covers all relevant information pertaining to the Senior School.

We look forward to continuing to work with and support your child throughout the year.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE:  Students Must Use School Crossings

It has been reported that students are not using the school crossings when walking to and from school.  Could parents please reinforce to their children the importance of using the designated pedestrian crossings.  By not following these rules, it places both students and drivers at risk and in a dangerous situation.  Thank you for your assistance with this important message.  We will be addressing this in year level assemblies throughout the year.  The Chill Out & Look About initiative which was formed by Dylan Briggs’ family and the LEAD Class aims to improve road safety awareness for all road users.  We ask all students to use the designated crossings and obey all road rules on their way to school and on their way home.

It is also important that parents do not drop students off both before and after school near the crossing.  This poses a very dangerous situation for both students and motorists.

It is essential that all students use the designated school crossings when travelling between campuses.

Students Driving To School

Students who drive to school are reminded that they must complete a consent form (which is available from the Senior School Office) and attach a photocopy of their driver’s licence.

Students are not permitted to park in the school grounds and hence, must ensure that they follow local parking restrictions on nearby roads.
