Year 10 News
Year 10 Work Experience: 20–24 June (Term 2)
In the last week of Term 2 our Year 10 students will have work experience. This is intended to give students insights into the industry and the workplace, developing employability skills and exploring possible career options. It is a fantastic opportunity for students to trial different industries before they engage in the 2023 subject selection process in preparation for Year 11. In Term 4, 2021 students were involved in an assembly which outlined the work experience process and paperwork.
The Work Experience paperwork is due on Friday 11 March
This is to go to Mrs Debbie James (Year 7-10 Careers) in the JRC. Extra copies of this paperwork are available on Compass. Students will be completing their compulsory Work Experience Modules (for OHS and other workplace responsibilities) in Week 3 of Term 2.
Year 10 Students Studying A VCE Subject
Last week our Year 10 students studying a VCE subject had an assembly with the Year 10 Team (Ms Cody, Ms Toovey and Ms Greenhill) about the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) policies and to congratulate the students for their efforts in completing a VCE subject/s in Year 10. The VCAA are the governing body who mandate the policies which guide the delivery of the VCE. We discussed information about:
- Attendance requirements (approved and unapproved absences)
- Missing a SAC and rescheduling a SAC (need for documentation to ‘approve’ absence)
- Minimum requirements to achieve a satisfactory result
- Special Provision and Special Examination Arrangements
- Conditions to automatically transition from Unit 1 and 2 into Unit 3 and 4.
A sample of the presentation has been shared with Year 10 families via Compass (from Ms Cody).
