Year 7 News

It has been great to see our Year 7 students settling into the routines of high school, finding their way around the 7-10 Campus and slowly mastering the complex art of unlocking a combination lock!

It has been a busy start to the term with events such as school photos, our Swimming Carnival, the start of Semper Squad, lunchtime clubs and School of Rock auditions, and we have loved seeing our newest students immerse themselves in the many opportunities that Frankston High School has to offer.

Many of our Year 7 students have already been recognised by their teachers as Junior School Legends: students who embody our school values (empathy, integrity, optimism, persistence, respect and responsibility) through their words and actions.  We expect students to work hard to try their best always and if the first part of Term 1 is anything to go by, our Year 7 students are well and truly up to the task!

Camps

The busy term continues with our first two Year 7 Camps being held this week at Golden Valleys Lodge in Flinders.  We are so pleased to be able to run the camps as a key part of the Year 7 Orientation Program.  They provide a great opportunity for students to get to know each other, build relationships with their teachers and to take on challenges as part of the engaging program of activities.  The fluoro-themed disco is set to be a highlight!  A big thank you to the Year 7 Team (Mr Darin Joyce, Ms Emily Sykes and Mrs Sharee Dew) for their leadership and planning for the camps and to all staff who have volunteered to attend.

Frankston High School IT

Digital platforms at Frankston High School IT has been great to see our Year 7 students setting up and using their computers over the first weeks of this term.  Throughout the past couple of weeks, students have learned about the platforms we use to support and enhance teaching and learning at Frankston High School such as Compass, Outlook, OneNote and Microsoft Teams. This information has been presented in IT classes, for those classes completing the subject this semester, or in class visits for those classes not completing IT until Semester 2. Students can visit the ICT Helpdesk (near the Junior Resource Centre) for assistance during break times. Thank you to our ICT Team for their support of our Year 7 students.

Year 7 Meet And Greet - Thursday 17 March

Please save the date of our Year 7 Meet and Greet night, currently scheduled for Thursday 17 March (subject to DET and government health advice). This is a great opportunity to meet other Year 7 families and members of the Frankston High School community. Further information will be communicated closer to the date.

Cycling Safety

A reminder that In Victoria, it is compulsory for adults and children to wear an approved Australian Standards helmet while riding a bicycle.  If your child travels to and from school via bicycle, could you please ensure they are wearing their helmet for the duration of their journey.  Additionally, students are not permitted to ride skateboards or scooters to school.
