Message From Our Principal
Mrs Jackie Stockdale
As we approach the end of the term, I would like to take a moment to acknowledge the incredible journey we have had together. It has been a busy and eventful term filled with growth, learning, and memorable experiences. First and foremost, I would like to express my deep appreciation to our students for their unwavering dedication and hard work throughout the term. They have consistently shown resilience, adaptability, and a genuine passion for learning. I also extend my gratitude to our exceptional team of teachers and staff who have been the driving force behind our students' success. They have worked tirelessly to deliver engaging lessons, provide individualised support, and create a nurturing learning environment.
It was with great excitement that I introduced Morgan Watson, our new Chaplain, to the students last week. She brings a wealth of knowledge, experience, and passion to our pastoral care programs. Our chaplain plays a vital role in supporting the spiritual well-being of our students, staff, and families. She will provide guidance, encouragement, and a listening ear to those seeking solace, guidance, or simply a space for reflection. We are confident that Morgan will excel in this role, offering valuable support and fostering a nurturing environment for our entire school community. Morgan will be doing morning drop-off duty out the front of school on Wednesday mornings so you will all get a chance to meet her and be able to put a face to the name.
The pride I felt while listening to students participate in the Lions Club Public Speaking Competition was truly immeasurable. We all understand the significance of effective communication skills and the confidence required to stand before an audience and articulate thoughts and ideas. Witnessing our students take on this challenge and excel in the competition is a testament to their growth, resilience, and hard work. Listening to all of the Grade 3-6 students speak eloquently, express their opinions, and engage the audience with their words evokes a sense of pride in their achievements. It reflects the efforts put in by both the students and the school community in nurturing their communication abilities. These skills will serve them well in their future endeavours, empowering them to become effective communicators, leaders, and advocates.
On Wednesday I had an opportunity to watch our Grade 5-6 students showcase their talent and hard work at the Festival of the Sacred, which was a truly rewarding experience. It was a testament to their dedication and the efforts they have put into honing their skills. Music and performing arts provide numerous opportunities for personal growth and development. By participating in the concert, students acquired valuable skills such as discipline, teamwork, time management, and self-confidence. Witnessing their growth filled Miss Ras and I with pride. Watching them perform in a concert allowed us all to see the culmination of their efforts and the commitment of their teacher. It was a moment to appreciate the talent, dedication, and personal growth of all Grade 5-6 students.
I'm excited to announce that student Semester 1 Reports will be available for parents to access through our PAM/SIMON Everywhere next week. I will send all parents an email on the day they are available. We believe that open communication and collaboration between parents and teachers are crucial for the success and growth of our students. Providing parents with access to their child's reports is an important step towards fostering a strong partnership in their academic journey. I would like to extend my gratitude to our dedicated teachers for their efforts in preparing these reports, as well as our parents for their continuous support and involvement in their child's education. Together, we can create a nurturing environment that empowers our students to reach their full potential.
I would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Ella and Liam who completed the Sacrament of Reconciliation. This significant milestone in their faith journey is a testament to their commitment to grow spiritually and deepen their connection with God. The Sacrament of Reconciliation offers an opportunity for our students to reflect upon their actions, seek forgiveness, and experience the grace and mercy of God.
This is a timely reminder for any of our families who have a child coming into Foundation in 2024 to complete an enrolment form. If you email me I can send you an enrolment form- principal@sptongala.catholic.edu.au
A reminder that Friday 23rd of June is the last day of term. Students will be dismissed at 1:30pm. I hope you all have a relaxing holiday break with your families and look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Monday 10th July ready for the Term 3.
