Our Wonderful ‘Living Cultures’ Incursion

On Tuesday 6th June, The Preps participated in a First Nations incursion at school. They had First Nations people Skyla and Hudson from Living Cultures, share their wonderful knowledge about Indigenous Culture and history. The Preps enjoyed learning about First Nations artifacts and Bush Medicines. They even had an opportunity to practise traditional fire making! The children also learnt that possum furs were used as a football by First Nations people many years ago. During the afternoon session, the children learnt about Traditional Indigenous Games.

The Prep children have been learning about living things in our environment. They have been making connections to the need to take responsibility for their local environment so we are able to enjoy it for many years to come. We can learn from our First Nations people who have taken such wonderful care of the land for thousands of years.
