Principal's Message

Dear Parents,

What an inspiring week of learning we had at St Joseph’s last week as we strive to ensure we have the best learning environment and community as possible in our amazing school.

Congratulations to the Year 4 community on a wonderful community dinner last week. We highly value coming together and ensuring a sense of connection and belonging for all.

Community is at the heart of all that we do in our school as aim to create a wonderful, positive faith community where all students are of the highest priority and together we provide a wonderful landscape to learn, grow and thrive in.

The following link is a great article from kids matter on building mental health and protective factors for our kids, one of which is being immersed in a community that cares.

Kids Matter - mental health and wellbeing

Congratulations to Sue Jackson as Deputy - learning leader for all that is happening in the learning space with upcoming reports and parent conferences.

Congratulations to junior staff on the Family Fun Friday - it is really special to see so many parents across Prep- 2 coming in and joining in on learning language. This is the best way to build an understanding of how we learn but also to build our love of languages.

Congratulations to Emily Reed and all senior staff on a wonderful winter lightning prem and Ashleigh Gledhill on the STEM rotary challenge- what a great sight to see our kids coming back so motivated and excited about their learning with teams getting in the finals in both events.

Congratulations to Matt, Luke and Kerry on a wonderful Cafe on Friday - always a special learning experience and community building event.

As we approach the end of Term 2, 2023 I would like to take the opportunity to thank our wonderful staff for all of the dedication and excellent work to ensure every student in our school is reaching their full potential.

Throughout the year we will continue to provide a comprehensive snapshot of your child's learning through a variety of platforms, including a formal report, learning conversations and Seesaw learning pieces. Through these platforms we celebrate and reflect on the learning strengths and areas of needs for your child. This week you will have the opportunity to discuss your child’s learning in the parent teacher conference.

I look forward to attending one parent conference in each class to celebrate the achievements and also check in on our processes. The formal school report will be emailed to you tomorrow morning. It is most important that you ensure the admin team has your current email.

The school term concludes this Wednesday at 1pm. Our end of term assembly will held Wednesday at 12.00pm in the hall. At this assembly we will celebrate the spirit of St Joseph’s awards and the Padua perseverance award given to a child in year 3/4 who has demonstrated great persistence in their learning throughout semester 1.

We thank parents for working in partnership with us and collecting students from school at 1pm on Wednesday.

Please note there is no supervision being offered after school onsite or at after school care on this day so all students must be picked up at 1pm on Wednesday.

Also note that there will be no crossing supervision, so we recommend that students do not ride or walk to school if they require this facility.

Just a reminder we have our staff conference on Thursday 22nd and Friday 23rd June. Students will therefore finish for the end of Term 2 on Wednesday.

We thank you for your support in allowing our staff time to engage in professional development as part of the Government guidelines of allocation of pupil free days each year.  We understand this is a wonderful commitment from all parents and always attempt to keep disruptions to a minimum.

School will recommence on Monday 10th July. I look forward to continuing our journey throughout Semester 2 and thank you for all of your support and contributions throughout the year. We are truly blessed to have such a wonderful community here at St Joseph’s.

Yours in Partnership,

Gab
