Arts Day

Congratulations to all students who participated in our Annual Arts Day, ‘Wildest Dreams’. We are pleased to announce that the inaugural House Champion for 2023 is Ashburn House.  Their enthusiasm, zest and energy was electric in their House Dance, and they demonstrated confidence, creativity and spontaneity in their theatre sports masterclass.  They received a traditional silver cup, which was originally an interhouse gymnastics trophy, and then reimagined as an interhouse Music and Drama Cup in the 80s, and now reframed to our Arts Day Cup. We love this nod to tradition.

Drama

Our Year 10 Drama students have been workshopping a script devised by Steve Pirie, A Thousand Points from Zero, for Queensland Theatre Company.  As a new initiative in our drama program, we are participating in the ‘scene project’ for young people.  Students had a chance to create scenes with actor, Tom Yaxley, and will now polish these ideas to present at the Billie Brown Studio to a live audience in Term 3.

Dance

Dance Troupe are channelling their inner mermen and mersisters, as they start to create routines for The Little Mermaid. Dancers have been inspired by choreographer, Emma Whitefield, and are excited about developing new routines.

Our Irish dance class on Wednesday afternoons is growing! Our Primary School students are busy learning the foundation steps of the traditional dance form and having a heap of fun along the way.
