From our Creative and Performing Arts Captains, Sofia and Kate

Clayfield College’s inaugural Arts Day took place last Wednesday, featuring three distinct sessions. The event kicked off with an exhilarating dance competition, followed by engaging workshops, and concluded with a captivating choral competition. Leading up to the day, all houses dedicated months of preparation, diligently honing their performances in accordance with the chosen theme, 'Wildest Dreams'.

The interhouse dance competition marked the beginning of the festivities, with esteemed guest adjudicator and exceptional dancer, Montanna Stoneman, in attendance. All Houses participated with remarkable enthusiasm, delivering outstanding performances on stage. A special congratulations goes to Ashburn for their winning rendition of Whitney Houston's 'Dance with Somebody'. Montanna commended them for their inspiring energy and unwavering commitment throughout their performance.

During the middle session, students had the opportunity to choose between Music Fest, the theatre sports workshop, or two art workshops. We extend a heartfelt thank you to the following adjudicators, who graciously spared their valuable time to contribute to this special day:

Piano: Brendan Murtagh

Vocal: Shaun Brown

Band: Elena Katahanas and Julie Fixter

Primary strings: Justin Bullock

Secondary strings: Katie Betts

To conclude Arts Day on a high note, an astounding choral competition took place, graced by the presence of renowned singer and guest adjudicator, Shaun Brown. All houses delivered exceptional performances, showcasing the immense musical talent of Clayfield students. The choir performances featured harmonies, instrumentalists, solos, and small groups, each imbued with its own special and unique essence.

A colossal thanks is due to the incredible staff members who made this day possible, including Mrs Gordon, Mrs Lockyer, Mr O, Mrs Greasley, the exceptional accompanists, the staff house leaders, the choreographers, the vocal coaches, and last but not least, the amazing Mr Walker.

In summary, Arts Day was a resounding success, fostering an environment that encourages students to embrace and appreciate the arts within our school and to fearlessly pursue their wildest dreams.
