Bali 2023

with Mrs Ita Rose

The Indonesian students from years 9 – 12 went on a cultural adventure to Bali recently from 21st June – 1st July.

This camp offered our students a myriad of enriching cultural experiences. Immersing themselves in Indonesian culture firsthand greatly assisted the students in their understanding of the language and its people. Being immersed in the language and the culture of Indonesia, even for a short time, proved to be an invaluable experience for the students learning Indonesian.

The students also had the opportunity to witness the 'Ngaben' ceremony. They visited factories producing chocolate, tea, and coffee, and enjoyed a cooking class while experiencing the daily life of Balinese farmers, which included working in the paddy fields, learning to make offerings, and learning to make coconut oil. They visited galleries showcasing silver and wood carving, where they watched the craftsmen work on their artwork.
