House Athletics Carnival (Y3 - 6)
On Tuesday 27 August, students from Year 3 - 6 participated in the House Athletics Carnival at Dolomore Reserve, Mentone. We were lucky to have blue skies and sunshine which meant that we completed a full program of events including shot put, discus, hurdles, long jump, vortex throw, triple jump, and various track events ranging from 100m – 800m!
It was great to see all students doing their personal best and showing great sportsmanship throughout the day. Congratulations to Morey House for being victorious and well done to McDonald who won the House Spirit Award.
1st | Morey | 448 points |
2nd | Wood | 407 points |
3rd | Reserve | 403 points |
4th | McDonald | 357 points |
We would like to say a big thank you at all of our House Captains and the staff involved for helping to make this day so successful. It was great to see many parents showing their support too!
Best of luck to the 70 students who now progress to the District level of the competition to be held on Wednesday 11 September.
Intra-House Athletics Competition (Year 5 & 6)
This term the Year 5 and 6 students have been enjoying an Intra-House Athletics Competition on the school oval. All students participated in 8 different events over a period of 4 - 5 weeks, earning points towards an 'individual score' based on where they placed in each event.
The students have had a great time mixing in their year levels and Houses, and the teachers have enjoyed working with different groups of students each week.
The results below are for the students who finished with the best jumps, throws and sprints in their year level. The Individual House Champions are the students who performed highly in every event from Sack Races to Vortex Throwing to High Jump and finished with the most points overall in their House.
Congratulations to all students for showing comradeship, great House Spirit, enthusiasm, being caring and most of all for being 'Risk-Takers' and 'having a go'! Thank you to all of the staff who have helped out each week to enable this program to run.

DISABILITY DIVISION
Year 5/6 Volleyball Victory!
During Term 1 Year 5/6 Interschool Sports, our Volleyball team played against seven other schools in the District and came equal 1st with Black Rock Primary School overall. In order to determine which team progresses to the next level of the competition, a playoff was held last Friday (23 August) at Black Rock. The boys played extremely well, supported each other every step of the way and came out on top - they won 2 sets to nil, 25 – 16 and 25 – 20!
Thank you to the parents who came along to support the team and to Donna Appel for being a great coach! We wish the boys the best of luck for their next game early in Term 4.
Year 5 Bike Education
Year 5 Bide Education commenced today. Students were taken through various riding skills, road rules and activities in local streets to help make them safer riders. Another practical session will be held tomorrow (6 September) and students will be individually assessed on Monday (9 September).
Thank you to the many parents who have volunteered to help - we could not run this important program without you!
