I thank the music team for their efforts and look forward to a very successful event.

TOURNAMENT OF MINDS - METRO CENTRAL CHALLENGE DAY

This is a marvellous achievement.

I would like to acknowledge Mr Lynton Perry for coordinating this event and well done to all students and staff who participated.

VTAC INFORMATION EVENING

Thank you to the Year 12 parents who attended the VTAC Information Night this week. Some critical dates are fast approaching for our Year 12 students. I wish them all the best with their decisions. I am very grateful to Mr Lachlan Noble, Mr Eddie Mest, Mr Delmar Zachest, Ms Pip Andrieux, Mr Dan Blackmore and Mr Chris Hudd for the guidance they provided.

OLD McKINNON PREMIERS

Our Old McKinnon Girls Football Team have won the flag in their first year by winning the VAFA Division 4 Grand Final! Hundreds of supporters gathered at Mentone Playing Fields on Sunday 18 August to witness this historic event.

The existence of the team looked unlikely when training commenced early this year when only eight players turned up to the first training. However, momentum quickly grew and it wasn't long before a full squad was competing every week of the season.

We are so proud of our current and past students who richly deserve the incredible success they have achieved in their first season. It's onward and upward from here for our girls!

YEAR 12 SQUARES

One of the funniest things this year occurred last Friday where Ash Hunter (Year 12) played Jackson Shang (Year 12) in the Grand Final of the Year 12 Squares.

It began of course with the national anthem as the black clouds rolled in.

The crowd was huge and supportive despite the inclement weather.

I flipped a coin and the game began. As the saying goes “come rain, hail or shine, the game must go on”.

Ash Hunter was victorious in three sets and there is just a little more on this story to come in the next newsletter.
