Visual Arts Awards & Night of Music

Winners in Visual Arts Awards
Over the past few weeks a number of Cowra High School students have won awards related to the arts.
Firstly was Cowra’s Tidy Towns and Urban Landcare Committee’s Annual Recycled Art Award, which had the theme Song Titles. Linda Chant's Year 11 students explored sculpture this year to enter work into the competition. It was a great opportunity to teach students about sustainability and utilising objects they found to produce a recycled artwork.
Patrick Hutchison won second place in the senior student’s section and last week was awarded his certificate and prize at assembly with the Chair of the Tidy Towns Committee, Judi Smith. A special mention also to Kyle Diamond-Squires, Emma Sargent, Kristen Simic and Meg Downey who all received highly commended results for their recycled artworks.
Cowra Regional Galleries annual student exhibition, UpstART 2016 is now on. A number of Cowra High School students were successful in winning sections and received merit awards. Congratulations to the following students: Joel Rue, Chloe Fricker, Shania Ambachtsheer, Airi Nishihara and Kate Hodges. This exhibition is a must see, running from the 26 November to 11 December 2016.
Night of Music
On Wednesday night this week the Creative & Performing Arts Faculty held their annual Night of Music in the school hall. It was a fantastic showcase of the breadth of talent that exists in the students and staff at Cowra High.
Congratulations to Doug Hughes, Glenys Ramage, Melinda Rowston and Amanda Burrell who allowed it to happen and of course to the students who shone like stars.
