Hello and welcome to Visual Arts

at St James in 2020

Hello and welcome to Visual Arts at St James in 2020.

Term One is well under way and the students have been busy creating all sorts of wonderful artwork. We are looking forward to the Art Show in Term 4 where they will be sharing their creations with family and friends.

During my teaching career I’ve taught as an Art, Music and Library Specialist as well as a classroom teacher, but Art is my absolute favourite. Teaching art skills, watching students experiment and produce works of their own is truly wonderful.

I’m a collector of the original artwork from Children’s picture books, and have a travelling gallery which I take into schools and Libraries and Literature Festivals. I talk to students about the process of illustrating books and the experience of being a Judge for the Children’s Book Council of Australia for BookWeek.  www.galleryforaday.com

If you would like to visit the Art room or you wish to contact me for any reason my email is acooper@stjamesbrighton.catholic.edu.au I look forward to a very happy year at St James.

Primary school students are invited to create an artwork interpreting "What Reconciliation means through their eyes".

Secondary school students are invited to write an essay or poem interpreting "What Reconciliation means through their eyes".

Entries close 5pm Friday 4 May.
