Student Banking
Saving and budgeting are very important life skills that can be learned by participating in weekly Student Banking. We are most grateful to our parent volunteers who assist with the Student Banking and this year we ask for some new volunteers to fill vacant positions to enable this valuable program to continue. If you can spare an hour each on alternate Tuesday mornings please see the office staff.
Bank accounts can be established at any Commonwealth Bank. Bank books with deposits should then be sent in via the classroom each Tuesday morning. Banking will recommence Tuesday 9 February.
The School Banking program provides children with an opportunity to deposit money into their Commonwealth Bank Youthsaver account at school each week. The program is about how often your child makes deposits, not how much they deposit.
New School Banking rewards now available! Exciting new Term 1 rewards with an Outback Savers theme are now available, while stocks last! For every deposit made at school, no matter how big or small, students will receive a silver Dollarmites token. Once students have individually collected 10 tokens they can redeem them for exclusive School Banking reward items in recognition of their regular savings habits. There are 2 new items released each term so be sure to keep an eye out for them! Thank you for supporting the School Banking program and don’t forget that TUESDAY is School Banking day!
If your children are not currently involved in the School Banking program and you would like to know more, please ask for a 2016 School Banking program information pack from the school office.
Website
All notices distributed are available on the school website. You can visit www.jpps.vic.edu.au to have a look. The bulletin board on the front page has information about current topics of note and upcoming activities.
Personal Property
This is a reminder to all families that the Department of Education and Training does not hold Insurance for personal property brought to schools and it has no capacity to pay for any loss or damage to such property. This may include mobile phones, calculators, toys, bikes and sporting equipment. We make all efforts to take care of student property and ensure classrooms are locked when not in use, but it is advisable not to bring valuable items to school and certainly do not leave valuables in your car as we have had thefts of bags left in cars.
Special Religious Instruction (SRI)
SRI is again being offered as a lunchtime activity for those families that enroll their child/children. This enrolment form for SRI was included in the information envelopes that went out to all students at the start of the year. Parents are reminded that these forms are required to be returned by Friday 5 February, 2016. This will allow the school to determine interested numbers arrange instructors and timetable the sessions. In 2016 SRI will be supervised by a member of the school staff. If there are any questions please contact the school office.
