Sports Academies

Basketball 

Basketball Victoria will be hosting the 3 on 3 Schools Challenge in October, giving players the taste of this new and exciting form of basketball. 3 on 3 challenge days will feature more games and less downtime. Our students will head to the State Basketball Centre in Term 4, Juniors on Tuesday 11th October and Intermediate on Thursday 13th October.

Our Basketball Academy went to Moorabbin Rams Rugby Club on Friday 9th September for a personal training session. Survey information from the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare indicates that fitness and gym use are the most popular activities. It is vital for young people to stay active and just as important they understand how to do this safely.

Netball Academy

After moving to the Monday grade our Academy team has found some success. We are super proud of their efforts to improve and wish them every success with the rest of the season.

Sports Academy 2023

As we are heading to the end of the year, we look towards our sports academies for 2023. Communication has been shared with our incoming Year 7 cohort and we welcome our new and existing families to make any inquiries to har@cheltsec.vic.edu.au. 

Any age group or gender are welcome to form an academy team. Our academy group does not require a selection or tryout process, we will work to facilitate any team or competition. Our aim is to create as many opportunities as possible, for students to engage with like-minded peers. 

The information provided below is for our Basketball and Netball Academy Teams.  We have very recently looked into including futsal or soccer in our Sports Academy and potentially working with Futbal First to help us deliver the program. Any further details on futsal and soccer will be available later in Term 4.

Current students and incoming Year 7 students are invited to complete this Sports Academy Expression of Interest form.
