During Term 3, we were very fortunate to be able to send a number of Year 9 and 10 students along to the Ballarat Tech School to engage in a 2 day program run through MARS Wrigley.
Students were placed in mixed school teams of 3-4 students and had to quickly get to know each other, respond to a design brief and customer profile, develop their chocolate product and design marketing materials. Using Mars factory production line materials, design teams were able to prototype chocolate bars to their design scope taking careful note of weights and production costs. Using the Tech School specialist greenscreen recording studio and EyeJack software, students created short promotional films for their products and featured these through their graphic design logos via augmented reality. All teams displayed their products in a final design Showcase enabling peers and Mars judges to choose the winning teams.
The winning team, determined through a panel of judges was awarded a ‘Golden Ticket’ experience to attend the Mars factory. Year 10 student, Patrick O’Connell, and his team were the lucky winners. We also had another student, Gracie O’Brien in Year 9, take out the ‘Peer Choice’ award for the day. Other student participants included Mikayla Rigg, Vienna Steel, Kira Barbary, Nuaym Haque, Zander Cameron, Abbey Mudford and Taryn Simmons.
We congratulate all of our students who participated in the day and look forward to participating in the program in 2023!
