Supporting Our Kids

Supporting your child to talk about Mental Health and suicide

In Australia 20% of the overall population experience concerns relating to their mental health. Of these individuals the overwhelming demographic of those experiencing these concerns is young people aged 15-24 years old.

As a school we believe that now, if you haven’t already started, is an important time to start having conversations with your child about what ill mental health looks like and how to access supports.

We have collated a number of resources and strategies for parents and carers to utilise in having these conversations with their child. If you feel like your child needs extra support, we encourage you to talk with your GP or for support at school contact your child’s Team Leader or the Student Services team on 5338 9000.

As a school we recognised R U OK? Day on Thursday 8th September by holding a sausage sizzle and encouraging students to start the conversation surrounding mental health. The sausage sizzle raised $468 that will be donated to R U OK? to support the organisation in continuing to support all those experiencing Mental Health Concerns and promoting awareness of Mental Health Concerns.
