In our garden.

Despite the chill, Spring is definitely in the air and its easy to see why we could have another season called Sprinter with all the blooming that is going on at the moment.

If you'd like to know a little about the Dja Dja Wrung seasons and their links to harvesting have a look at this short video

The last few weeks of gardening have seen us harvest some tasty young parsnips in addition to our staple greens. They are delicious cut thinly into long strips like french fries and given a quick hot roast.

One important activity that we do all year round is making compost.  Here we are adding some of our crumbly brown compost to our garden beds to return fertility to the soil.

The warmer weather is bringing out  a few interesting bugs in the garden.

Keep your eyes open and see what different creatures you can find in the garden!

This is a Crusader bug (Mictus Profana ), and this one is probably a male because it has yellow tips on its antennae. They can live for 3 1/2 months and eat both introduced and native plants.  I found this one around near our mandarin tree which is one of their favourite foods apparently!

Grade 3/4 W had a very quick gardening session between showers, we still enjoy ourselves and got some lovely fresh air. (Scroll through the photos using the arrows)

The Potatoes and Flowers were busy helping to get our garden beds ready for FoodShare's

"Grow a Row" program.  More on that next term

Happy Gardening
