Assistant Principal (Learning)
Congratulations to all students and parents for making it this far through the year. In my opinion, Term 3 is the most challenging term – it’s dark, cold, often wet, the novelty of the year has well and truly worn off, and the end of the year still seems a long way off. Thankfully, the arrival of Spring and the lengthening daylight allow us to feel more optimistic and upbeat. I hope that you and your family are able to enjoy some downtime together these holidays, to reconnect and refresh.
For students in Prep to Year 9, there should be very little, if any, holiday homework. However, we do encourage students of all ages to continue reading daily.
Year 10 and 11 students should be spending some of their term break making sure that they are up to date on school work so they can focus their attention on preparing for exams in Term 4.
Year 12 VCE students should be well underway with their exam preparation by now, so they can get the most out of the Trial Exams scheduled for the first week of Term 4. While it is important for students to get some rest during the break, there is very little time left before their final exams so students will need to find a sensible balance between rest and exam preparation.
Things to note:
- Many assessment items have been completed in the last few weeks of term; please take some time to review the feedback and results provided for your child in My Aitken. This should give you some detail about what aspects of their learning the student needs to focus on in Term 4.
- 2023 Resource Lists will be distributed in Term 4. For students entering Year 11 or 12, this will be early in the term, so that you can meet the ordering due date of 30 October. This will allow time for delivery of the items in time for the Early Commencement program that begins on Monday 21 November. For other year levels you will receive Resource Lists in mid-November, with a due date for orders in mid-December.
- Information about what 2023 Elective subjects your child is enrolled in will be provided to students in time for Resource List ordering.
Happy Spring!
