Wellbeing News

I recently attended the Wellbeing Network for Wellbeing Leaders in the northern suburbs of Melbourne for Term 3. Much was discussed in regard to how students in Melbourne are interacting with one another in our post lockdown world.

One of the challenges of being in extended lockdowns was the impact on our students social and emotional learning. These areas include; social awareness, self management, relationship skills, responsible decision making and self awareness.

At Sacred Heart, we use the program Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships and classes use this for a sequential, weekly lesson.  This wellbeing program is very highly regarded and is used in conjunction with the Social and Emotional Learning Framework  and the Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools Wellbeing Framework document.  As a staff we will undertake some professional learning at our upcoming school closure day on the 12th of September to work with a leading presenter in wellbeing, Maurizio Vespa. He will work with myself and the staff on this day on Restorative Practices. I look forward to sharing more about this day and our wellbeing initiatives at Sacred Heart in the coming weeks.

RE News

Confirmation

There are 5 students in Grade 5 that will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation on the evening of Friday 9th of September 2022.  Please keep Zane, Ethan, Jaxon, Michael and Amelia in your prayers as they prepare for this special Sacrament.

I have asked for members of the Grade 2-6 choir to join Marty and I in preparing the music for this special celebration. Please return the note or let me know if your child can sing with us.

Take Care,
