Interschool Athletics Carnival

On Wednesday Aug 24, 2022, the grades 4-6 students of Sacred Heart Primary participated in a district Athletics Day held at Coburg Athletics Track.  After two years of such minimal interschool sport involvement, it was so lovely to see the children have the opportunity to have fun and challenge themselves in a friendly environment.  Well done to all students who represented the school so well on the day, and also those who were able to place in events.

I would like to thank those parents/carers who were able to come and support, as well as Marty, Mark, Jess and Rose-Lee for their efforts throughout the day.

Finally, a big shoutout to Alex Mateski in grade 4/5 who came 1st in the under 9/10 boys shot put.  Alex will be moving on to the regional Athletics competition, and we wish him good luck when he competes later this year.

More from Book Week

The Good Samaritan

As part of our Religion unit on ‘Story’, the Year 2s have been learning about some of the stories that make up the Old and New Testament. The story we focused on this week was ‘The Good Samaritan’. The students did an excellent job of reenacting the story and sharing their thoughts on what it means to ‘love your neighbour’.

Year 5/6

Today we went to Nino's Early Learning Centre, to read to the Kindergarten children. The students were able to interact with the children, reading and drawing with them.

Ria - It was a great experience learning to help kindergarten children such as introducing them to new books and opening their minds to curiosity and questioning.

John - It was fun and I got to know plenty of people. It was great reading to the Kindergarten children and learning about their interests.

Julian - There were a lot of little children there and the Y5/6s took books to read and the children chose who they would read with. I read to 3 different children, reading 3 different books.

Hansvi - It was really fun hanging out with both of the girls, I got to know a bit about them and I liked it when one of the girls asked me if I could draw with her.
