Wellbeing Happenings at OLHC

I have been privileged to be able to spend the last three days with the Year 5/6 children at The Briars in Mount Martha. The glorious weather, this fabulous group of children, exciting activities, excellent food & great staff contributed to the many happy memories for everyone who was onsite.

I was so impressed to see the genuine care that the children had for each other, checking in on each other’s wellbeing over this time. Whether it was sorting out a splinter, a missing sock, wet clothes from falling in the disgusting green water

during the commando course or checking in on a friend who was feeling a bit homesick with the simple words “R u ok?”, the children were so inspirational!

R U OK? Day is a national day of action dedicated to reminding everyone that every day is the day to ask, “Are you OK?” and support those struggling with life's ups and downs. The children and their teachers may have had conversations around “R u okay?” day yesterday.

Over the last 2 weeks children from Prep - Year 6 have completed a  Social Emotional Wellbeing Survey. The Social-Emotional Wellbeing Surveys have been designed to provide schools with information on the student population (whole school, specific year levels, targeted groups) so that schools can use the data to direct planning and problem-solving efforts. This gives us valuable information regarding student learning, wellbeing and friendships. It gives us a snapshot of whether each child is ‘okay’ from their responses and we also rely on information from teachers and parent feedback. We will use this data to guide us as we plan for Term 4.

Recess and Lunchtime at OLHC….

We sent $305.00 to Pets of the Homeless and this was their reply….

Hi Eloise, Raf, Kai & Emily,

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your generosity, kindness, empathy and compassion. Most of all, thank you for sharing your incredible vision board with us.

Your wonderful community has helped the pets of vulnerable people by providing food, safe shelter and vet care and by helping those pets, you've helped their people as well. We meet so many people who choose to feed their pet, their best friend, before they feed themselves. Your thoughtfulness helps us to achieve our vision of a community where no person is separated from their pet due to homelessness or disadvantage.

Again, thank you.

Well done to our Wellbeing Leaders and to you for your support.

Have a great week!
