Principal's Notes

Dear families and friends,

This term has continued  to go very fast and it is hard to believe that we are on our last day of the term. We are now beginning to plan for 2023 already. Each day at school, I am always amazed watching the learning and personal growth of each student. Our Year 6s will finish their last term of primary school and our 2023 Foundations students will begin their transition to primary school.

I am hoping that with the term holiday break and improved weather, it will allow all the coughs and colds to disappear.  The total yearly absences so far has been the highest we have recorded even during two years of Covid lockdowns so our school focus next term will be to have increased attendance at school and to minimise student absences.

Footy Colours Day

On Thursday, we have celebrated Footy Colours Day and raised some money to help fight cancer. Thank you for all the gold coin donations and a special thanks to Marni Luhrs who delivered the hot and delicious pies from Hamilton.  A terrific example of leadership and organisation was shown by some of our senior students who organised and ran our footy skills in the afternoon.

Cricket Blast Competition

We have been invited to participate in a Cricket Blast Competition at Pedrina Park on Friday 14th October.  This will be for selected students only in a mixed girls and boys team event. More information will come at the start of Term 4.

Congratulations Lexi

Congratulations to Lexi Thomas who received a Monivae College General Excellence Scholarship for 2023-2025. Lexi had to submit a scholarship application and a folio to support her application plus attend an interview. We are very proud of you Lexi.

COVID Isolation Changes

Any student or staff member who tests positive to COVID-19 must now isolate for a minimum of 5 instead of 7 days. If the students or staff are symptom free, they may return to school on day 6. If they are still having symptoms, they must remain in isolation until day 7.  If they have symptoms after 7 days, they are strongly advised to stay home until their symptoms have resolved.

The Department of Health strongly recommends that you wear a face mask away from home indoors and outdoors when you cannot physically distance. If you are leaving isolation on day 6, wear a mask for 5 days but particularly the first 2 days. If you are leaving isolation on day 7, wear a mask for 4 days but particularly first 2 days.

Swimming Program

In Term 4, we will run our swimming program in at HILAC. We have been fortunate to receive some funding through Sporting Schools Victoria to assist with the cost of our swimming program for this year. So this year's charge per child will be $82.00.  Lessons will take place between 1pm and 2pm starting on Monday 21st to Friday 25th November and then the second week from Tuesday 29th Nov to Friday 2nd December.  Transportation will be with Trotters Coaches. Our swimming carnival will once again be at the Balmoral Swimming Pool. This will take place on Friday 9th December. Swimming permission forms will be sent home in early term four.

Wishing every family a good break and some enjoyable time together.
