Year 8 Interschool Sport

Hockey

The year eight mixed hockey team played two stunning games at the inter-school sports day on the 22nd of August. The first game against Camberwell was amazing, with Kew winning 1-0. Evangeline Anagnostou scored the goal during a short corner. After a big hit from Oscar Doh, Evangeline hit it in on the post, past the keeper.

Our second game was against Balwyn High with Kew winning once again with the final score at 2-3. Balwyn scored the first goal of the game, however that didn’t bring us down. James Pringle ran down the pitch, free from defenders and slapped the ball past the keeper. The goal was scored in utter confusion and surprise. Just before the half time whistle, the ball made its way into Kew’s attacking circle and Arnold Mac whacked it in the goal after he won a tackle from a Balwyn player. After a quick discussion at half time we went back on with a determination to win. The next goal was scored by Emma Boxshall after a great hit from Isabella Perich. Emma hit the

ball into the corner of the goal, making the scores 3-1. Balwyn managed to get in one more goal before the final whistle but Kew won the game.

Well done to Evangeline Anagnostou, Emma Boxshall, Isabella Perich, Arnold Mac, Lachie Booth, Oliver Poulios, Oscar Doh, James Pringle and Alex Papadopoulos who saved countless goals as the keeper without any prior experience. You all played amazingly. Also, a big thanks to Bishaaro Faarax and Will Stevens for coaching, and Mr Thickins. Of course, a big thanks to Rocco and Josh from Camberwell who filled in for our lack of players.

Excellent job everyone!
