From the Principal

Parent Opinion Survey

Heartfelt thanks to our parents who were invited and took the time to complete The Parent Opinion Survey this year. The Parent Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education and Training that is conducted amongst a sample of randomly selected parents. It is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of parents’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour and student engagement. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.

If you did happen to get an invite and haven't completed the survey as yet, ORIMA have informed us that the survey will remain open until Sunday, 18th of August.

Student Led Conferences

I would like to thank all parents who attended our Student Led Conferences yesterday. This was a great opportunity to meet with their child’s teacher and gave our students the chance to showcase all the fantastic things they have been working on in the classroom. It also gave our students another opportunity to increase their public speaking skills and gain greater student voice over planning their educational experiences.

We have uploaded a very simple parent survey on COMPASS so parents can provide some reflections on this new initiative. Students and staff will also be surveyed. The survey can also be accessed by clicking this link  https://forms.gle/oEUtssTnohRVfxqf9

Early responses from this survey have been extremely positive with parents being very proud of the way their children conducted themselves during the interviews.

I would also like to sincerely acknowledge the work of my staff as they prepared the students for their interviews and conducted the day with a great deal of dedication and enthusiasm. I really am grateful to have such a great team. I look forward to your continued support as we work together to ensure the best possible education for your child.

Buildings

Excitement is building, pardon the pun, in terms of our building upgrade as a result of our government funding we received last term. Our buildings committee met with the Project Manager and architect last Monday and discussed possible layouts and requirements that we will be seeking. Hopefully, within a couple of weeks, we will have some preliminary drawings to review which will be incredibly exciting. Stay tuned.

Principal's Pondering

A Growth Mindset message...

Research has explained a growth mindset as ‘a willingness to confront challenges, viewing failure as a springboard for growth, and a passion for learning. Not surprisingly, this type of mindset is strongly linked to greater happiness and achievement in life.’ Children who are happy, comfortable, safe and confident have a greater outcome with learning and socialising.

Here’s a child friendly video as made by one of our communication apps, Class Dojo, that explains it brilliantly. - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2zrtHt3bBmQ
