Believe in Belonging
On Monday the 12th of August the Year 6 Wellbeing team ran the ‘Believe in Belonging’ event. ‘Believe in Belonging’ is a day where the Wellbeing Team organised activities to show diversity in our school and community. Each student was allowed come dressed in casual clothes. The idea was that students could choose which activity they would like to do to share their diverse interests and connect with other students who like the same thing.
The Wellbeing team had set up many different activities that they were interested in teaching, and everyone got to share how diverse they were. The idea first came about when the Wellbeing team visited the St. Kilda Town Hall for a whole day of fun learning about diversity in our school, our community and in our life.
We had a few meetings about when and what we were going to do. We also had a few discussions about what we would name the day. We all agreed that a day offering diverse activities would be the best way to get everyone involved.
The workshops we ran included:
Puzzles and Games
AFL Football
Yoga and Drama Games
Coding
Poster Making
Dance
FingerPrint Making
Comic Book design
Everyone involved had a great day and we have had many comments about how all the students liked working with different people, making connections, learning new skills and having fun!
