Curriculum

Wow, it’s hard to believe we are in week 5 already! It has been another fantastic week of remote learning in the Discovery Centre. We again thank the families and parents for all of your support throughout this experience! Please remember that it is okay if you are unable to complete all activities throughout the week! Thursday was our first specialist day which went very well. It was great to see so many specialist tasks completed on that day. Thank you to all the families who have picked up the next paper pack this week, if you have not had a chance to pick them up please try to do so this week. This pack will support your child’s learning and provides templates that are to be used with some activities to be posted on Seesaw. This pack is organised into weeks so please wait to see what you will need throughout that week. There is also some extra activities at the back of the pack for you to use if you would like to complete some extra tasks, which is of course optional.

Last week the Foundation teachers uploaded some exciting, extra content for students! Each class will now have the option of watching their teacher read a chapter book throughout the week. They can also watch videos to practise the first 26 codes that we learned in Term 1. These are saved in a folder called ‘Codes’ so that you can easily find them to watch and practise the codes regularly if you would like to. This week we will also be introducing 5 new codes for the students to learn and practise, keep an eye out for this video today! These codes help students with reading and writing so it would be great if you could make some time for your child to watch these videos (they can do so independently).

In Numeracy we focused on 2D shapes with a variety of engaging activities. We enjoyed seeing the students’ creativity when making their 2D shape pizzas and cubby houses. It was also great to see the students enjoying the fun 2D shape memory game!

Here are some pictures of the teachers completing activities to show you a sneak peak of some of the fun things we will be doing this week!

Have a wonderful week,

Terima Kasih,

Erin Dawson, Jessica Tossell, Brooke Henwood and Yana Gill.
