Humanities Update

Health: Your Attitude Determines Your Direction

One of the benefits of having a 'longer than normal' Term One has been having the time to delve into our Humanities focus in depth.  The primary focus for Health this year has been to develop an understanding of what it means to be physically, mentally and emotionally healthy.

The children have explored the link between each of these areas of health and most of them have created Inquiry projects that inform others of what health means and what you can do to stay healthy.  This has been an exciting venture for our Year 5 children in particular as they are adapting to a focus on 'process' over 'product'.  Without an end of term expo, they are realising that inquiry learning is more than making an artefact; they are creating an action that has a benefit to the wider community.  This has been an exciting few weeks for all of the children in the level and it is wonderful to see older students working alongside the younger children to share their new understanding.
