Richmond Regional Final, First Lego League

MGC hosted one of the regional rounds for the First Lego League on Saturday 10th Nov and 2 teams competed with 8 other teams for a place at the Swinburne State Finals. Our two teams, Space Troubles and Anti-Gravity have progressed and, they won the Research Award, made from Lego, of course.

The competition is not only about the Robot Game but also includes a Research Project based on the theme of Into Orbit and adherence to the Core Values of the First Lego League, which are:

  • Discovery: We explore new skills and ideas.
  • Innovation: We use creativity and persistence to solve problems.
  • Impact: We apply what we learn to improve our world.
  • Inclusion: We respect each other and embrace our differences.
  • Teamwork: We are stronger when we work together.
  • Fun: We enjoy and celebrate what we do!

As MGC also hosted the Richmond event, the Tournament Director, Wendy Keen, and her group of dedicated teachers, students, parents and outside volunteers assisted on the day to make sure that the event ran smoothly.

We look forward to Sunday, as a total of 40 teams compete on Sunday for a place for at the Sydney National Championships.

If you’d like to come and cheer our teams along, the event is open to the public, it’s a unique and inspiring atmosphere and highly recommended! You can find us at on Sunday 18th November on the ground floor of the ATC Building, Burwood Road of Swinburne Uni.
