Year 7's Amazing Race

The Amazing Race - Georgia Eadie 7M3

We were off, adrenaline pumping through our veins as we all hurried towards the sheets of paper allocating our groups for the race and new lockers for the term. The Amazing Race is an event that took place on Thursday the 25th of October, introducing year seven to moving beyond the Lyceum and into the main building with the rest of Melbourne Girls College. The orientation was designed to assist year sevens to familiarize ourselves with all the classes in the main building and enable us to find the quickest routes to our subjects. Not only was The Amazing Race entertaining and enjoyable, it also encouraged new friendships beyond each house and the importance of teamwork and leadership. There was a range of activities to entice and get our cognition running that were to be completed in 75 minutes. We had to think fast and move faster as we navigated the world represented by different classrooms. Some of the activities included; reciting poems, complex quizzes and physical challenges, to earn stamps and points for our teams. At the end of the race, year seven said good bye to the Lyceum, and good luck to the year twelves as they moved in to complete their final exams.
