Parkes wins overall points in Senior Athletics House Sports

SENIOR ATHLETICS

It was a fun filled, exciting day for senior students at their recent House Sports competition held at the Knox Athletics Track in Knoxfield. After weeks of torrential rain, God bless us with an amazing warm and sunny day that lifted the spirits of everyone. Competition was fierce between Barton, Parkes and Deakin with a number of standout competitors that made for a nail biting finish, however Parkes was the eventual winner, taking the overall honours. Well done everyone involved. It was a great day.

BRAZILIAN SOCCER STARS VISIT ST ANDREWS

It was a tremendous privilege to have three famous international soccer stars visit St Andrews, Antonio Da Silva, Champions League player with German side Borrusia Dortmund and high level coaches and players Lamartine Da Silva and Joaquim Netto.

Both Lamartine and Joaquim are working with HASA, Hope Australia Soccer Academy in Casey to help develop soccer skills and life skills through mentoring. The program is aimed at providing young people aged 7 to 18 with the disciplines and pathways that will help them be successful in life. Ultimately HASA's goal is to see individuals, families and communities better connected and thrive both socially and economically.

All three men told the students about their Christian faith and their personal experiences and journey in the world of professional soccer. Afterwards they were extremely generous with their time to meet and greet students and staff.

Thanks you Mr Farmer for your great work and effort to bring these outstanding sportsmen to St Andrews.

ST ANDREWS NETBALL

The Spring Season for netball has well and truly arrived. After 3 weeks of grading games we have seen majority of our teams move up sections with their skills progressing and team work continuing to develop. We are so proud of our coaches and the hard work they do to support our netballers each week. Bring on the second half of the season!

It is fantastic that we get to congratulate the U/15 Vipers Section 4 who came runners up in the Winter season, playing the Grand final with only 6 players. We also had our U/11 Jets (Section 3) and U/11 Phoenix (Development Section 2) finish 1st on the ladder. Congratulations to all the coaches and players.

ST ANDREWS SOCCER AIM FOR THE TOP

Boys Soccer

St Andrews boys soccer team defeated WAVERLEY 3-0 in boys soccer Division 1 A. This division is the top section in CSEN. Well done boys - onwards and upwards.

CSEN PRIMARY ATHLETICS

In CSEN Athletics in both primary and secondary St Andrews has been promoted to the A Division of CSEN schools which are the bigger schools by students number such as Waverley CC, Flinders CC and Hillcrest CC. Some of these school double our student numbers but we are able to compete with them on the sports field.

In secondary Athletics Division A we finished fourth out of five larger schools for students aged 12-18. In primary Division A we finished third out of four larger schools for primary students aged 8-12. This means we stay in the A division for 2020 and can battle it out with the bigger schools and mean our students are excelling at higher levels of athletic performance.

The photo shows our primary winners who will hopefully proceed to the CSEN Champions carnival in October. In the photo are Daniel Lee and Jaden Cheung who won the Long Jump, Erica Dunham who won Triple Jump. Also featured are the “Awesome foursome” Daniel Lee, Ezra Ferguson, Ji Forbes and Josh Deng who won the Under 11s Boys 4 x 100m Relay event.

ST ANDREWS CRICKET

The cricket season has begun. Grade 5 and 6 girls teams played in the Wantirna District cricket comp on Friday. Boys won two out of four games, and girls won win out of three !! Considering cricket is a new sport for most students it was a commendable effort.
