from the Assistant Principal ..

Just a few reminders of some processes, rules and values we want to focus on for this term and beyond (Message sent to staff and students on Compass this week)
- Students are to have one locker 'only' and it must have a lock. Please get a lock tonight to avoid having your locker 'wired' shut. Yard duty teachers and coordinators will be making sure this happens and that you are all acting sensibly and responsibly in the locker areas.
- We will be holding Monday afternoon detentions for 'unexplained' lateness to school. Coordinators will be issuing uniform detentions also. Parents can phone or write a note or notify the school via Compass for lateness. You need to see an AP or coordinator before school to get a uniform pass (you will need to have a note from home).
- Co-ordinators have reminded me to tell students NO hoodies or black jackets and girls 'must' now be in the winter uniform. The uniform policy states clearly that you must wear the college jumper under the school soft-shell jacket for warmth. We have plenty of second-hand college jumpers available too! We will be looking at the feedback from the uniform surveys that students completed in Pastoral Care. Pastoral Care teachers were very impressed with the mature discussion that was had about our current uniform policy. I will let everyone know what the results are and once we have the majority of student responses, we will take possible proposals to School Council. Year 9 students had an assembly so please complete the survey by this Monday.
- All students of all year levels are expected to have their school diaries on them at all times in all classes (not just in Pastoral Care. Every student was given a diary when they commenced the year. If it is lost you need to see Mr Collings to purchase a new diary. Teachers will not be allowing students out of class without the log book signed at the back of the diary. We will put benches or shelves in the toilets for your diaries and books (a request from SRC this year). Please note students will not be going to the toilet in pairs.
- A reminder of some out of bounds areas at recess and lunch time: Students to be clear from ALL boundary fences, Year 12s are the only students that can go to the Bernard St shops and Year 11 and 12 students are the only students that can go to George's coffee shop. No other students should be in the area behind A-wing. Students are not to stay in the coffee shop. R-wing is out of bounds during breaks and locker areas should be kept cleared. The Year 9 area outside the Food Tech room is out of bounds. The area behind the containers and water containers near the gym is out of bounds and the staff drive way and all car park areas. We have painted some new down-ball courts in the main courtyard for students as we lost some due to the new building. The library and LF needs to be respected especially during the breaks. No drinks or food and be aware that senior students are using it for study so noise needs to be minimal also. Can we commend all students on their responsible behaviour around the building program. As a whole you all have handled the inconveniences with understanding, patience and maturity. Well done!
- Last point is Work Management. It is 'your' responsibility to keep up to date and manage your time. All year levels have been focusing on responsibility, at home, in the classroom and most importantly communicating with your teachers and coordinators. Take responsibility for your Work Management. If you have an issue or concern, see your coordinator, never just not turn up!!! We also have tutors and teacher help most nights and a fantastic homework club every Wednesday where you even get fed!!! Take advantage of all the support that CSC offers.
Thanks for reading, hope you're all having a great term?!!!
