Monday Mile

HAPE Week at Staughton College

On Monday, the 4th of September, a dedicated group of students tested their endurance by taking part in Staughton College’s inaugural running of the Monday Mile. This event kicked off the week-long activity program for Health & PE week. Students were briefed before the race that 1 Mile is equivalent to 1.6 km or 4 laps of our 400 m oval.

On the signal "Ready, Set, GO!", The students paced themselves well, achieving some good times. Malou Lueth of year 11 ran 6:14, closely followed by Riel Mayuom of year 12, taking second running a time of 6:20. Jack Darling of year 8 wasn’t far behind, crossing the line in a respectable time of 7:00.

Students took their place on the podium to have their photo taken and be rewarded their respective prizes. Well done to all other participants not mentioned. It really was admirable to see students tackle this challenge, despite windy and unfavourable conditions.
