Grade 1/2 Newsletter

On Tuesday, the Grade One/Twos created potions as a language experience for Writing this week. We created the potions in a cup, using food dye and ingredients that we found outside like leaves, sticks and sand. As we made our potions, we made a list of all the ingredients that we put in. Then we mixed them altogether. On Thursday, we used this experience to inspire narratives about what might happen if someone drank a potions. There were so many wonderful characters such as:
- princesses
- giant frogs
- witches
- a fisherman and a shark
- scientists
- werewolves
- mice
- mermaids
- wizards
- talking cats, … and beasts with purple spikes!
Some terrible AND terrific things happened to the characters who drank the medicine such as:
- being caught in a storm
- turning into a mouse
- sleeping walking
- turning into a red back spider
- shrinking and eating pasta
- turning into a dragon who flew to the moon
- swimming to water holes
- going super fast up into the sky like a rocket
- turning into a smurf
- … and gaining wings to fly.
- So many great imaginations!
