Kids Swimming Carnival Report

Swimming Sports

To start we have a joke:

What do you call a fish that wears glasses?

                …a sea fish! hah!

We interviewed 2 kids from each grade, who enjoyed the swimming carnival and who competed and should be very proud of themselves and we hope you all had lots of fun swimming in the Fitzroy pool and we are thankful for all the staff who helped us do a fun swimming carnival .

Grade 4’s

Eva.P: At the swimming carnival I was under a lot of pressure. In freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke I came 3rd and in butterfly 1st (meaning I can go to district). When it was over I felt very proud that I did it and that the other kids gave it a go.

Magnus: At the swimming carnival I felt nervous since it was my first time. In freestyle I came 1st and I came 4th in backstroke. I felt sad that it was over but I am very excited for next year's Swimming Carnival.

Grade 5’s

Torin: On the day of the Swimming Carnival I felt nervous but also excited. I did freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke. I came 2nd in freestyle, 1st in backstroke and 2nd in breaststroke. I didn’t know what to expect since I was going against grade 4 and not 5.

When we got back to school I was very proud of myself and the grade 4s who did an amazing job at their first swimming carnival. I was bummed when they said we had to catch up.

Eleanor: My favourite thing in the swimming carnival was racing freestyle. I did not do freestyle last year, I did backstroke. I came 3rd last in freestyle and that was the only stroke I did. I kept entertained by cheering for my classmates, talking to my Dad and reading my book. I really enjoyed this year's Swimming Carnival and I’m looking forward to next year.

 Grade 6’s

Hunter: One of my favourite things was cheering my friends on. I liked freestyle because I beat my brother. Something new from last year's Swimming Carnival is the diving boards. The funniest moment this year was when I nearly  fell off the diving board. I was definitely better this year, I came 2nd in freestyle and 5th in breaststroke.

I hope I go to regionals because all my friends are going and I have never gone. I want to represent the school, and I liked swimming in the hot sun because it was refreshing. I think I could have done better in breaststroke.

Maisie: I loved seeing my friends win. I liked butterfly because I am good at it. Diving boards were one of the funnest things. This is the last time I will be doing the swimming carnival so I tried to make it the best one. The funniest moment in breaststroke was when someone’s goggles fell off and they tried to put on in the race. I came 1st in freestyle, 1st in breaststroke, 1st in butterfly and 4th in backstroke. The swimming carnival was the best part of the year.
