Principals' Update

Election Day BBQ

Thank you to all the parents and staff who assisted on Saturday for the election day BBQ. It was a busy day with plenty of wind to contend with. We managed to raise around $5000 on the day.

Dark Emu: The Book that Changed Australia (working title) for the ABC

We were excited to welcome Blackfella Films and Bruce Pascoe onto the school site to film a segment for a feature-length documentary about the book Dark Emu: The Book that Changed Australia (working title) for the ABC. Bruce facilitated a lesson with 3/4K on Young Dark Emu and we were excited to showcase our beautiful school and the work that our Reconciliation Action Plan Team and our Buildings and Grounds Subcommittee have done to acknowledge the traditional owners of the land of CNPS.

Big Day Out

On Tuesday our Year 5/6 students attended the annual Big Day Out. The purpose of this event is to provide the Year 5 students with an opportunity to celebrate the end of the year. The Year 5/6 Students attended the KINO and watched the film, Marcelle the Shell with Shoes On. The students then attended Fitzroy pool and participated in a number of activities.

Whole School Transition

We are currently in the process of forming the 2023 classes. This process takes some time as great consideration and care is taken to meet the needs of our students. We will be conducting whole school transition sessions on Monday 12 and Tuesday 13 after lunch. During these sessions, our students will get to know their 2023 teacher/s and classmates. Our new teaching teams have been planning during week 9 and into week 10 in readiness for 2023.

SunSmart Reminder

A reminder that we are a SunSmart School and that all students and staff are required to wear hats when outside. We require students and staff to wear a hat that protects the face, neck and ears such as a broad brimmed, legionnaire or bucket style hat. Peak caps do not offer enough protection and are not recommended by SunSmart.

As UV ratings can still be high on cloudy days it is important to remain SunSmart.

Swimming Program Update

As we have been unable to run the Swimming in Schools program this year for any of our students, the Department of Education funding for this will be rolled into next year’s program.

Many of our wonderful families have made a voluntary contribution for the Foundation to Year 4 program, some for much more than the suggested amount.  This is so generous!  Given the donated funds cannot be used this year, please advise whether you would prefer to have the amount credited to your family account for future events. It would be appreciated if you could please let Trish know your preference by next Monday 5 December, if you haven’t already, so she can finalise accounts prior to the end of the school year: trish.harrington@education.vic.gov.au

If Trish does not hear from you by 5 December she will assume you are happy to have the amount rolled over to next year’s Swimming in Schools program.

Thank you to these generous families!
