Howdy all,
So, a good news story coming your way right now.
I emailed The Little Bookroom (TLB), last week to ask if we had any credit from their Community Reading Rewards program (the program's details are in the flier below, it's a great community give back. Check it out).
Anyway, I asked if our school had accrued any credit, thinking we might have $50 or so to our name. An email came back from them... we had accrued $750!!!! You might have heard my jaw hitting the ground if you were around Carlton North on Monday morning around 11.30 am 😉 Fair to say I was grinning for the rest of the day. I was seriously not expecting that amount.
And this is where generosity and community have their own payback. TLB is currently running a pay it forward fundraiser for a couple of schools in Rochester, Vic. whose libraries have been devastated by the floods this year. Again, another wonderful initiative from TLB. On behalf of our school, I donated $250 from the $750 we'd earned to help replenish these school libraries. I figured our school community would support this donation. TLB was really appreciative of our generous donation. The link is below if you feel like donating. The donations are in increments of $10 and every donation helps these schools and their libraries.
BOOKS ARE ESSENTIAL. This country has been wracked with more disaster and we've been connected with the Public Schools in Rochester, VIC who lost around 90% of their library books in the Spring floods of 2022. Both Rochester Primary School and Rochester Secondary College are in need of some community support to relplace the damaged books, and replinish the library so that they can continue to offer their students a wholeistic school experience, rich with literacy. We are reactivating the Pay it Forward program to help them out. Chipping in $10 to Pay it Forward provides new books for these schools in need. For every $10 contribution The Little Bookroom will also Pay it Forward $1.
