Balaclava Round Robin Volley Stars

Ella Spooner and Charlotte Ferguson, Year 6

We had the Balaclava Round Robin on 22 March. The magnificent Volley Stars from Years 5 and 6 had a great day at Firbank (Sandy House). We loved playing against all the other schools and even made some new friends!

We learnt different types of serves, improved in our spiking and played ten games with no reserves to offer a rest!

In the end, we were very happy with the result of 2nd and equal 4th. Well done to the whole team!

EISM Division 1 Swimming

Well done to our amazing Senior School Swim team who placed 5th overall (out of 21 schools) in the EISM Division 1 Swimming Carnival at MSAC on 14 March.

Many thanks to Georgia Thompson (Year 7), Claire Whisstock (Year 8) and Hayden Kopcheff (Year 7) who all swam up age-groups. Hayden Kopcheff swam two relays in the Open Boys! It was also great to see the more senior boys including Liam Molloy, Hayden Mellow and Jude Teo make Hayden feel welcome and part of it.

Thank you also to a few students who stepped up to swim extra events at the last moment. We are grateful to Freya Watters (Senior School Sport Captain), Agrata Sharma (School Vice-Captain) and Milan Bays (Year 7), who completed a duty for the EISM across the night.

We are proud of all students who gave their all. Some of our swim stars had also competed at the State Championships over that long weekend so it was an amazing effort to back up the School after a hectic competition. Thank you to Liam Molloy (Year 11), Greta Saville (Year 11), Hayden Mellow (Year 10), Henry Kiosoglous (Year 10), Annie Steele (Year 9) and Mary Steele (Year 7).

A couple of the many highlights include:

  1. Three Kilvington EISM records (in 11 years, we have only ever held two records before this Meet).
  2. Annie Steele breaking two EISM records in Breaststroke and Backstroke.
  3. Liam Molloy smashing the EISM record in the 100m Freestyle.
  4. The many first-place swims by Liam, Greta, Annie and Henry.
  5. Kilvington winning the 15YO Girls Age Group.
  6. The cheering and support up in the grandstand by the Kilvington students, staff and the many parents who attended.

A lot of our team will now progress to the EISM Champions Carnival at MSAC on Monday 27 March.
