The final few weeks in World of Foods students travelled to India, Africa and Morocco. The students enjoyed an Indian banquet with a variety of Indian dishes they all prepared. Students prepared Samosas, Butter chicken, Beef Madras served with Basmati rice, pappadums and roti bread.
Students then travelled to West Africa and prepared Jollof rice, a dish consisting of long-grain rice, tomatoes, onions, spices, vegetables and chicken cooked in a single pot. and Moroccan puddings were devoured for dessert.
The students in World of Foods are to be congratulated on an incredible semester of learning. They have all produced remarkable dishes and worked collaboratively to achieve outstanding results!
Students have continued to develop their confidence in using the sewing machine to produce their work. There are some amazing finger knitters in the class, and keep an eye out for the Equestrian elective horses that will be decorated with costumes made by some of the Year 7 Textile students for a Christmas parade to Lakeside Living.
Last week The Foundation to Year 3 students watched Darcy Sambell shear the Edenhope College sheep. Students have been learning about sheep and what they produce, so it was a wonderful opportunity for students to see how the sheep are shorn, the different tools and equipment that is used, and how the wool is collected.
Students also enjoyed the opportunity to use the garden produce, some they had grown from seed in their Agriculture class, in their Health lesson last week. Students prepared a healthy fruit and vegetable character snack using a selection of fresh fruit and vegetables.
In Week 6, the 2023 Year 7 students came together for their second Transition for Year 7 2023. Students enjoyed creating an article that reflects their personal qualities and strengths, and using this to look at setting some goals for the year ahead. Students interviewed each other and recorded themselves which I am sure they will enjoy looking back on in the years to come. After a tour of the school, students enjoyed making and eating their own pizza for lunch. We are looking forward to the final Transition day on 10th December 2022.
