Student Leaders News & Awards

Welcome to the 2023 school year! A very warm welcome especially to our Preps and all new students and families at Trinity!

It was wonderful to see our students return so excited to be back at school and to see their friends and teachers. The Preps have had a great start and have met their Year 6 Buddies so they have another friendly face in the big yard and someone they can look for if they need a little support playing outside.

Everything we do at Trinity is with a wellbeing focus for our students and their families.

In a calm, safe and consistent school environment students will establish being back at school and will be ready to learn.

You will have received a copy of our Behaviour Management Policy that has been developed to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all, in all environments, as well as the Positive Behaviours for Learning that underpins everything we do.

The first few weeks are all about getting into the “back to school” mindset. It is about settling into a consistent classroom routine, knowing the expectations and building the independence that students need to take responsibility for their own wellbeing and learning.

All staff make a committed effort to build genuine relationships with students and their families. We also know that friendships at school and social connections between students are just as important and “Circle Time” and a wellbeing activity is included in classrooms every day. It is a fun way to get to know each other and build new connections with each other and the teachers and learning support officer (LSO) in the class as well.

We totally understand that holidays and a relaxed routine over the break can take some readjusting… including for adults! For students that may need additional support there are opportunities in the classroom and outside in the school play environment to assist them. The staff all work as a team to provide the reassurance and support students may need to get back into school life.

At home it is also important to also establish a “back to school” routine.

This includes a set bedtime for adequate sleep and limiting device / screen time in the evening, reminders to organise school bags and making sure students take some responsibility in packing what is needed for the day, especially water bottles, lunch boxes and additional items needed from home (school hat, satchel, library bag).  Teachers really do appreciate the support from families so that a smooth start is established.

A lot of information is sent home in the first few weeks of school,  so it is really important that bags are checked for notes, especially parent consent forms, and emails are read so you also know what is going on from week to week. Please sign up to 'Skoolbag' and the parent email used by the school office.

Please feel free to come and see me or email to organise a time for a chat and for any additional support.
