Principal's News

Mr Rodrigues

Dear Families,

A heartfelt welcome back to each and every one of our families. A special welcome of course to all our new families who have joined us this year. Our first day was a great success with an extremely smooth beginning to the term for our staff and our children. As expected, there were a few tears in the morning, from both children and parents in Ms Caitlin's Prep classroom, however, these quickly dried up as the morning progressed and on day two, I am happy to say, it was a dry day for all.

It has been great to mingle with the children and hear all about their holidays, their exciting adventures and to realize how many them were so excited to be back at school.

The first week back in all classrooms has been an orientation into each class' routines and has enabled teachers to set up important learning routines for students. This has included establishing classroom expectations and our positive behaviours for learning. I was extremely impressed by how quickly classes settled in and how easily children adapted to their new environments.

As promised last year we will endeavour to improve our communication with families through our newsletter, community calendar, email, Facebook, Instagram, Skoolbag app and SMS. It is important, however, that if parents are unsure of an event or activity that they do not hesitate to contact the office, a class teacher or myself as soon as possible.

I have also appointed Ms Bridget O'Connor to the position of Family Engagement in Learning Leader and she will work closely with the leadership team to ensure this aspect of our school community continues to grow and be strengthened for the benefit of all our students and families. Our newsletter this year will also include a Faith Education Page and Student Learning Page. I encourage everyone to read these pages each week to keep up with all things happening in these areas throughout the year.

By now many of you will have met our new Deputy Principal and Religious Education Leader, Mr Ru Lameijn. He has already felt the welcome of our community and I know that he is looking forward to getting to know each of our families and working with you all, particulary in the area of Faith Education and leading our school to further strengthen our Catholic Identity. If you have not met him as yet I know he would love you to come and introduce yourself to him before or after school each day.

I am truly looking forward to another fantastic year at Trinity and to further strengthening the already wondeful community we are all part of.

Prayer: A Student's Prayer for a New School Year.

Lord Jesus, I ask for Your help as I begin this new school year. Allow me to experience Your presence in the many blessings You put before me. Open my eyes to the new challenges and exciting opportunities that this new school year brings. Open my heart and mind to new friends and new teachers. Give me a generous spirit to be enthusiastic with my studies and courage to accept new opportunities. Help me to be attentive to my teachers and let me experience Your presence in my new friends. Jesus, inspire me to do my best this year!

Amen
