Deputy's Message
Ms Chris Hawkins
Since the beginning of Term 3, we have welcomed several new students to Boorowa Central School. As enthusiastic learners, they have embraced all that is on offer at our school and are making the most of the opportunities offered to them. Kieren told me that he came from a school of 1100 students and that "The learning here is in a relaxed environment, but we still achieve a lot. I programmed three drones in one lesson!" Charlotte said that she enjoyed the "Exciting activities, like the cooking class" and Angel told me that one of the best things so far is that "The staff do fun work and they are caring". Olivia said she has been "Having fun and learning at the same time". This demonstrates participation in learning and activities.
It doesn't surprise me that our student community has shown great kindness and caring in welcoming our newest students into their friendship groups and have helped them to settle in quickly. According to Cane "Making new friends has been easy here", which demonstrates the respect our students have for others.
Our learning routines, timetables and playground spaces may be different from other schools, so it can be quite a challenge to learn new structures so late in the year, but our newest students have adapted quickly. Lara says, "I like having lunch first and then recess" and Lisa told me that she likes the playground "Because it is bigger than my last school". Peter summed things up by saying, "It's just fun to be at school."
Feeling like a part of the school community can take time, but for some of our newcomers, it has happened quickly, which is a great credit to all. Phil already has a sense of pride for "The achievements of the entire school" whilst Dea just likes being here. These comments demonstrate that our students have shown responsibility through their positive behaviours to ensure our newest Boorowa Central School students have had a great start to their time with us.
BCS might stand for Boorowa's 'Caring' School. Well done to everyone.
Each for all and all for each
